Educational Webinar for Experts: "Psychogenic Constipation — Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychogenic Constipation"

Updated: June 2026.

Some children experience painful bowel movements. This can arise for various reasons that a pediatrician helps address. However, many children with a history of constipation develop a fear of painful defecation, leading to psychogenic constipation: they refuse to use the toilet for bowel movements or sit on the potty. They may go days without emptying their bowels or have bowel movements only in a diaper while standing. ⁣⁣
