Some children experience painful bowel movements. This can arise for various reasons that a pediatrician helps address. However, many children with a history of constipation develop a fear of painful defecation, leading to psychogenic constipation: they refuse to use the toilet for bowel movements or sit on the potty. They may go days without emptying their bowels or have bowel movements only in a diaper while standing.
Pediatricians often refer children with psychogenic constipation to specialists for psychological support. This webinar shares knowledge about psychotherapy for psychogenic constipation in children. By participating, pediatricians may be able to offer practical recommendations so their patients can receive help as soon as possible!
